Equine Iridology

Bianca Church is a Certified Equine Iridology Technician with “Through the Eye International” in California as well as a competitive dressage rider and barn and horse owner.  She understands the requirements of optimum wellness needed for optimum performance.  By using Equine Iridology an Equine Wellness Plan can be developed to address the individual needs of any horse.

Equine Iridology focuses on the study of the equine irides.  The colour, fibre structures, and various other features, seen in each of the irides, reflect the individual’s genetic makeup and the strengths and weaknesses of their physical body.  An Equine Iridologist is able to read the markings in the irides of the horse.  The markings in the iris reveal the reflex conditions of various systems of the body.  They represent a detailed picture of the integrity of the body in areas such as constitutional strength, areas of congestion, toxic accumulations, and inherited strengths and weaknesses.  Equine Iridology can be used in developing individualized nutrition plans for equine clients.

In an Equine Iridology analysis the technician uses a highly sophisticated camera built specifically for taking pictures of the iris.  Once the pictures are developed, the technician reviews the iris for markings.  The troubled areas are identified and a profile of the horse is prepared.  Then a consultation with the client is made to discuss the observations of the iris.  Alternatively, the technician can also conduct an iris reading by using a simple light and magnifying lens held up to the horse’s eye.  Both methods require a darkened barn preferably with out windows.

Equine Iris

Equine iridology is very similar to human iridology and, although it cannot pinpoint or detect a specific disease, it can tell a Certified Equine Iridologist that their client has over or under-activity in specific areas of the body. While the details of the condition cannot be diagnosed, it may be enough to ensure a more thorough examination is performed by a trained professional or veterinarian.

This early detection could prevent a more serious condition. Furthermore, the findings can help to reveal information such as: a deficiency in the horses preventative health program, a “health history” and soundness of the horse, possible genetic abnormalities, which may suggest future health problems, inherited strengths and weaknesses from its parents.
